Overview

Data Porter is a personal analytics tool that helps you view and track your LinkedIn engagement metrics. This policy explains what data we access, how it's handled, and your rights regarding that data.

Data We Access

When you authorize Data Porter, we access the following LinkedIn data through the LinkedIn Data Portability API:

  • Your name and profile information

  • Profile picture

  • Email address (for authentication)

  • Post engagement metrics (impressions, likes, comments, shares)

  • Follower and connection counts

Note: We do not store Microsoft Bing Maps location data.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to:

  • Display your personal analytics in a dashboard

  • Track engagement trends over time

  • Generate reports for your own use

We will never use your data to:

  • Facilitate discrimination of any kind

  • Attempt to re-identify de-identified or anonymized data

  • Sell or transfer to third parties for advertising or marketing

Legal Basis for Data Processing

We access and process your LinkedIn data based on your explicit consent, which you provide when authorizing Data Porter through LinkedIn's OAuth consent flow. You may withdraw this consent at any time.

Data Storage

Your data stays with you. All information is stored in:

  • Your personal Google Sheets account (which you control)

  • Your browser session (temporary, cleared when you close the browser)

We do not maintain external databases or servers that store your LinkedIn data. Standardized Page data may be retained for up to one year in accordance with LinkedIn's API terms.

Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell, share, rent, or transfer your data to any third parties. Your information is never used for advertising, marketing, or any purpose other than displaying your own analytics back to you.

Data Retention & Deletion

Data remains in your Google Sheets until you delete it. We do not retain copies of your data outside of your own accounts.

Your Right to Deletion: Upon your request, we will immediately delete all of your data from any systems under our control. To request deletion, contact us at evan@evanstoudt.com.

If you close your LinkedIn account, we will delete any associated data we hold, except where retention is required by law.

Revoking Access

You can revoke Data Porter's access at any time:

  1. Go to LinkedIn Settings → Data Privacy → Other applications

  2. Find Data Porter and click Remove

Revoking access immediately stops all future data collection. Previously synced data in your Google Sheets remains until you manually delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard OAuth 2.0 for authentication. Your LinkedIn password is never seen, transmitted to, or stored by Data Porter. All data transmission occurs over encrypted HTTPS connections.

Children's Privacy

Data Porter is not intended for users under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

International Data Transfers

If you are located outside the United States, please be aware that your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where our servers are located.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, the "Last updated" date will change. For material changes, we will notify you via email or through the application. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
